Radisys and Cavium Networks Collaborate to Deliver OCTEON II Based Packet Processing Innovation

Mutual customers will enjoy the improved price/performance of OCTEON II in the next generation of Radisys products

HILLSBORO, OR and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — April 14, 2009 —Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a leading global provider of advanced embedded solutions, and Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor products, today announced their collaboration to deliver OCTEON II based AdvancedTCA™ solutions to mutual Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs). Radisys was among the first companies to deliver solutions based on Cavium’s first generation OCTEON Multicore MIPS64 processors and has established market leadership through innovative solutions and number of customer applications addressed. Radisys was the first to implement the “smart front end” with onboard 10GE switching to enable highest throughput and I/O. Radisys ATCA and AMC products are being deployed with a broad range of 3G and 4G applications ranging from Security Gateways and lawful intercept to ASN & SAE Gateways.

“We are excited about the OCTEON II as we look to continue our innovative packet processing solutions with smart front end to offer cutting-edge performance, flexibility and throughput that the market has come to expect from Radisys,” said Anthony Ambrose, Vice President and General Manager, Communications Networks, Radisys. “Through our collaboration with Cavium on the first two generations of OCTEON, we gained invaluable experience helping customers through development and deployment. We will leverage that expertise to help TEMs reduce their time-to-market while improving the price and performance of their systems with OCTEON II.”

With a broad set of Tier 1 - Tier 3 customers developing and deploying solutions on Radisys’ packet processing ATCA 7220, ATCA-7200 & AMC 7211 products, Radisys has the breadth and depth of experience to deliver OCTEON II products that will meet TEM requirements.

“Today, Cavium Networks’ OCTEON has become the processor of choice for a wide variety of ATCA and AMC products because of its industry-leading performance and low-power characteristics which are critical in physically and thermally constrained environments,” said Rajiv Khemani, Vice President and General Manager, Networking and Communications Division, Cavium Networks. “Radisys has a proven track record with strong system-level expertise and deployment experience that make them a valued Cavium PACE partner. Feedback and experience from a customer/partner like Radisys was key in defining OCTEON II capabilities as we continue delivering cutting-edge performance for today’s and tomorrow’s network requirements.”
