6U cPCI blade with eight-core Intel Xeon processor announced by ADLINK

A 6U dual slot CompactPCI processor blade, the cPCI-6930, has been announced by ADLINK. Featuring an eight core, 1.8 GHz Intel Xeon processor E5-2448L, Intel C604 chipset, and DDR3-1333 ECC memory to 48 GB, along with four GbE egress ports and 4 GB SATA NAND flash for server-grade applications in telecommunications, datacom, and security.

With the option for a bootable CompactFlash socket, and SASA/SATA connector for a 2.5” onboard drive for additional storage, the cPCI-6930 also includes up to three SATA ports and eight SAS ports for RAID support via two mini-SAS connectors. The three independent DDR3-1333 RDIMM channels offers the power of 16 concurrent threads, culminating in a reliable, scalable, cost-effective solution.

Intel’s Hyper-Threading Technology enables efficient utilization of processor resources, facilitating higher throughput and increased performance, while Intel Turbo Boost Technology improves base operating speed below specification limits. High-speed data transfer is conducted through the four front panel GbE ports controlled by Intel 82580EB GbE controllers, with two extra ports supporting PICMG 2.16 routed through a J3 connector. Further I/O is included in the form of a VGA port, three USB 2.o and two USB 3.0 ports, and an RS-232 serial port.

PMC/XMC expansion sites that support 64-bit 133 MHz PCI/PCI Expres x8 XMC modules are also included.
