CompactPCI Express-based airborne radar system to be developed for DLR

LINKÖPING, SWEDEN. SP Devices and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), have announced plans to develop an advanced airborne radar system based on high-speed CompactPCI Express digitizers. The 12-channel Data Acquisition (DAQ) system will include real-time data recording.

The high-speed Solid State Disc (SSD) recording system will include channel synchronization and be optimized for recording data from the CompactPCI Express digitizers. The radar system will include a 10 GbE module and feature image processing capabilities.

The airborne radar system will be housed in a custom enclosure to meet environmental requirements. The system is scheduled for deployment in Q1 2014.

“This advanced radar system is crucial for DLR in its research of SAR algorithms, and we are pleased to start cooperating with experts from SP Devices on this project,” says Andreas Reigber, Department Manager, DLR.
