Artesyn Expands Compliance Program to Include NEBS GR-63-CORE, Enabling Customers to Reduce Time-to-Market by More Than 40 Percent

Artesyn Embedded Technologies today announced it has expanded both its ISO/IEC 17025 American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and Verizon NEBS Testing Certification Witnessing Program (TCWP) scope to include GR-63-CORE.

Artesyn Embedded Technologies today announced it has expanded both its ISO/IEC 17025 American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and Verizon NEBS Testing Certification Witnessing Program (TCWP) scope to include GR-63-CORE. By combining NEBS testing requirements with product release activities using the company’s in-house service, Artesyn estimates its customers can reduce their post development qualification cycle time by more than 40 percent when compared with typical NEBS post-release programs.

Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) is the most common set of safety, spatial and environmental design guidelines applied to telecommunications equipment in the United States. The GR-63-CORE standard covers physical protection for network telecommunications equipment and is a companion to GR-1089-CORE, which covers electromagnetic compatibility and electrical safety aspects. Artesyn has been approved to perform its own GR-1089-CORE NEBS qualification testing and certification since 2012 and now, with the addition of GR-63-CORE, further establishes its commitment to providing a total NEBS test and certification solution to its customers.

Communications equipment providers are required to perform NEBS testing by the carriers, who mandate they use an external independent test lab to perform the testing, adding time and cost to a project. Following a recent successful expansion audit by Verizon, Artesyn—working with National Technical Systems (NTS), a leading Verizon-approved independent test lab—is now able to test and certify systems to both GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE specifications at its own global headquarters facility in Tempe, Arizona, USA.
