Alliance Systems Announces New U-3000 MicroTCA System

Alliance's U-3000 3U MicroTCA platform is geared towards telecommunications, medical, defense, and industrial automation with fully redundant power, cooling, and MCHs. Its flexible, horizontal design allows for either installation of four double-wide and two single-wide AMCs or 10 single-wide AMCs for processing, storage, DSP, or access capabilities.

Plano, Texas – May 31, 2007 – Alliance Systems, Ltd. announces it's new U-3000 MicroTCA system to enable rapid deployment of carrier-class communications applications leveraging smaller form factors. With carriers and service providers adopting AdvancedTCA, they are also interested in leveraging MicroTCA for more cost-effective, smaller form factors in applications with lower capacity and less stringent performance and availability requirements. With the interchangeability of components with ATCA and a lower total cost of ownership, MicroTCA is fast becoming the architecture of choice for carrier-grade wireless and access communications applications.

Compliant with the PICMG MTCA.0 R1.0 specification, the U-3000 platform can achieve levels of 10 Gbps interconnect bandwidth over the fully-passive, dual-star backplane. Alliance Systems has tested and validated system performance and interoperability with high-performance Processor AMCs with Pentium M 738 low-voltage 1.4 GHz or 745 1.8 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, and 400 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), as well as storage AMCs with a 60 GB SATA HDD.

With carrier-grade high-reliability features such as NEBS, ETSI, and five-nines (99.999%) availability, the U-3000 addresses thermal management, chassis and card management, and serviceability issues including hot-swap, redundant 600W AC or -48 VDC power and cooling; a maximum of 80W of power and cooling is supplied for each AMC slot, specifically needed for high-end AMCs.

Alliance also provides a complete WiMAX base station solution using the U-3000 platform and Intel® NetStructure® WiMAX Baseband cards. Service providers, OEMs, and TEMs can deploy WiMAX applications by using the Intel NetStructure WiMAX Baseband card. The Intel building block is a standards-based solution with an Application Programming Interface (API) that allows for quicker and more efficient development. Customers can minimize system integration and development costs by leveraging Alliance's fully-integrated WiMAX MicroTCA solution.
