CompactPCI Express Revision 2 released by PICMG, provides 4x bandwidth increase
WAKEFIELD, MA. The PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) has announced Revision 2 of the CompactPCI Express specification. The revision adds a 5 Gbps transfer rate and 8 Gbps transfer rate PCI Express operation, providing a 4x increase in bandwidth while preserving complete backwards compatibility with preceding CompactPCI Express and CompactPCI products.

ETRI selects CommAgility AMCs for B4G and 5G research
LOUGHBOROUGH, UK. The South Korean Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) is using CommAgility AdvancedMC (AMC) modules in development of Beyond 4G (B4G) and 5G mobile telecommunications technology. Both the ETRI Wireless Access System Research Department and B4G Mobile Communications Research Department are using the AMC modules in various MicroTCA (mTCA) chassis and MicroTCA Carrier Hubs (MCHs) in their research efforts.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ Business Support Systems unit suited by Ericsson
LONDON, September 4 – The race to acquire Nokia Siemens Networks' (NSN) Business Support Systems unit is being led by Ericsson, according to a source on Monday. The sale is part of a divesture of several non-core business units began by NSN last year to reduce its staff by nearly a quarter and drive profitability and independence. The Systems Support unit, which specializes in telecom operator billing and revenue management, is valued at more than $375 million.
